Celebrating the women of CanopyLAB

Happy International Women’s Day. We are super proud to announce that two talented, strong and intelligent women joined the CanopyLAB team starting March 1st. Both have extensive experience from the edtech space and they have joined the company as it finishes it important transition from startup to scaleup.

[…] as artificial intelligence, machine learning and adaptive learning principles are refined and applied in learning technologies, we have a unique opportunity to further democratize learning and make learning more personal. This helps empower the individual and increases their likelihood of success.

Lise Andersen-Alstrup takes up the position as Chief Learning Officer (CLO) at CanopyLAB, where she will use key client insights to help further develop the CanopyLAB learning platform, in close dialogue with danish and international clients. Lise has extensive experience in EdTech and comes from a position as Head of Editorial Operations in EdTech company Clio, where she has been employed for the past seven years. “I am very much looking forward to transferring all my knowledge from my years working at Clio to CanopyLAB and to their customer segment. Learning is fundamental for all people regardless of age, segment and industry, and as new technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and adaptive learning principles are refined and applied in learning technologies, we have a unique opportunity to further democratize learning and make learning more personal. This helps empower the individual and increases their likelihood of success. That is why I am super excited and inspired to be a part of the CanopyLAB team, who share my passion for learning and desire to enable adaptive learning principles” Lise explains.

Learning designer is Yamanda Boukmakh, who previously worked at CanopyLAB in an internship position, also started in her new position at the onset of March. Yamanda holds a Masters Degree in Anthropology of Education and a BA in Education and Child Studies. Yamanda has three years experience working as a woman in education and technology, for companies such as Microsoft, Aarhus University and DIS. “I look forward to combining my passion for technology and learning, and I am already involved in a series of innovative client projects where CanopyLAB can really make a difference for learners in Denmark” Yamanda says.

Lise and Yamanda join a team that already has women in key roles, below you can see product designer Tran Tran, front-end developer Ivona Malekovic who works in the Sarajevo office with our partners Symphony, and co-founder Sahra-Josephine Hjorth.

“I am incredibly excited that we have the ability to attract women with Lise and Yamanda’s level of experience in the field of education and passion for technology. Since we attracted our seed investment, Christian and I have spent a lot of time with our Board crafting a vision for what kind of company we want to be and developing profiles of the people we believe can help us become a global leader in the corporate edtech space. Lise and Yamanda can help us realize that vision. I personally look forward to learning from them and growing the company together” said co-founder Sahra-Josephine Hjorth.
