Your brilliant questions answered: “What does CanopyLAB really do? We keep hearing about the software and the open learning platform?”.

“Your brilliant questions answered” is a blog series where Chief Learning Officer Lise Andersen-Alstrup answers your most pressing questions about CanopyLAB, learning, adaptive learning, elearning, onboarding, SDG #4, edtech and much more.

We get a lot of questions from prospective clients, followers on social media, and the press asking about what we really do. Because it seems that we do two things, which can be a little confusing, especially since we haven’t always been experts at telling that story. We work under the tagline “The Future of Learning – Delivered Today,” which is a bold promise made a reality through two initiatives:

The Canopy: A Social learning platform powered by AI

A research-based social e-learning platform for developing competencies through individualized and adaptive learning experiences. It is designed with an integrated social network structure to enhance collaborative learning and is built on strong Nordic learning principles.

The LAB: A learning community with provocative content

Join our global learning community for youth. Take free courses, exchange ideas, gain new knowledge, and practice competencies offered by 30 + pioneering NGOs in controversial and often neglected topics such as sexuality, sexual & reproductive rights, climate action, health, and the SDGs.

When we first started, we were warned against doing two things simultaneously. I mean, startups are so rarely successful with one thing. But there is a symbiotic relationship between the two. The LAB is a testing group for new features, and we are very inspired to work with our civil society partners and the younger demographic. Many of our clients also opt for making the content library in the LAB available through their platform to provide their employees with a bigger depository for unique, diverse, and sometimes provocative content. We are proud of being an impact startup, and social impact is an integrated part of our DNA. It’s what makes CanopyLAB feel like more than just a job – rather a joint mission.
