Your brilliant questions answered: “What is the LAB?”.
“Your brilliant questions answered” is a blog series where Chief Learning Officer Lise Andersen-Alstrup answers your most pressing questions about CanopyLAB, learning, adaptive learning, elearning, onboarding , SDG #4, edtech and much more.
What is the LAB? is the question that tops the list of the 10 most common questions that we get here at the CanopyLAB office. To describe it very briefly; the LAB is a free learning community with provocative learning content.

The slightly longer version is that you can join our global learning community for youth. Take free courses, exchange ideas, gain new knowledge and practice competencies offered by 30+ pioneering NGOs in controversial and often neglected topics such as sexuality, sexual & reproductive rights, climate action, health, and the SDGs.
A close followup questions include, “could you share more information about the courses?” and “who makes the courses?”
Our partners currently release courses in the following course categories
- Sustainability & Climate
- Democracy & Human Rights
- The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Sexual and Reproductive Rights & Sexual Education
Personally, I am very excited about the track on the SDGs. I have been involved in the partnerships around the SDG courses, where 2030NOW have been a key player. There are currently 18 courses about the SDGs in English and 18 in Danish. The courses are not identical, and more and more partners are adding their unique approach to courses about the SDGs. My personal favorite is Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action.
The courses are created by our amazing network of partners, who are pioneering NGOs, museums and student organizations.

We have really gained momentum, and expect to reach 80 partners before the end of 2019. Some of the most recent additions to our network are HER Foundation, Honest Eco, Diversity Factor, Sexualisterne Viborg, Power:Period and Space Explorers Academy.
You can join the LAB any time if you are 13 years or older and have an email address. Simply click here.
