Who is Æst-Ethics?
Out of the lack of a solution that brings aesthetics and ethics together without compromising one of the P’s of the Triple Bottom Line, Æst-Ethics was born! Currently, Æst-Ethics is a one-woman team, driven by founder Marije de Roos, A.K.A. the Circular Fashion Detective™. The foundation of the business is built on the SDGs, in particularly Goal # 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and Goal# 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Given the industry, Copenhagen is a great place to be in for the development of the startup. Sustainable development seems to be in the Danish DNA and that is why I decided to build my company in Denmark- The market is ready for it.
The goal is to reverse global warming through responsible retail. Fashion is here to stay as we all need clothes and other products to get us through the day.
Goals & Objectives
The goal is to reverse global warming through responsible retail. Fashion is here to stay as we all need clothes and other products to get us through the day. Without it we would be naked! I want to reach a global audience with my message that fashion can be a true force for good, if we know how to use it. To get that message across, I have partnered up with CanopyLAB to create a series of courses to empower consumers to act responsibly when it comes to fashion. I want them to – build a better relationship with what they buy and use and what to do with products at their end of use.
Better fashion consumption and production starts with education.
Our Approach
Given that SDG 17 lies at the core of the company’s foundation, it was only natural to partner up with CanopyLAB. By working together with CanopyLAB, I am able to create value through education. CanopyLAB helps me to facilitate a high quality, content-rich online course that will be available to a global audience, for free! Better fashion consumption and production starts with education. We need experts to share their expertise so that the general public can work towards a more sustainable planet for us all. Unfortunately, the PR machines of the big box companies continue to bulldoze over new initiatives. Through æst-ethics I am hoping to create an ecosystem for the underdogs! That’s the beauty of technology; when applied right, it truly makes our lives easier and the world a better place.
Through æst-ethics I am hoping to create an ecosystem for the underdogs!
Results
The first course is called: “How to become a Responsible Fashion Rebel™?” The course will be in English and targets Gen Z and Millennials. In the future, perhaps I could also create a course in my native tongue, Dutch. The course launch will be on April 24, Fashion Revolution Day, so stay tuned for more updates!
At CanopyLAB we designed a simple and social platform for digital learning experiences.
