A Partnership between 100% for the Children and CanopyLAB

Out of the lack of a solution that brings aesthetics and ethics together without compromising one of the P’s of the Triple Bottom Line, Æst-Ethics was born! Currently, Æst-Ethics is a one-woman team, driven by founder Marije de Roos, A.K.A. the Circular Fashion Detective™.

Who is 100% for the Children?
Established in Denmark in 2008, 100% for the Children works towards improving the living conditions and strengthening the rights of the most vulnerable children and youth in Kenya and Ghana. We do not only work with providing access to basic services like health and education but increasingly to give youth influence in decision-making processes through advocacy and capacity building. Today, our main focus areas are catered towards youth via:

  • Empowerment and leadership
  • Capacity building
  • Campaigning
  • Advocacy work
  • Peer-to-peer efforts, among others

We are also actively engaged in working towards the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aligning all our projects to relevant SDGs and through partnerships.

Our vision for the future is that children and youth will be the ones leading the development in their local communities, pushing for equality and access to health care, education and human rights.

Goals & Objectives
Our goal is to ensure vulnerable and marginalized children and young people have the skills and opportunities for action that enable them to actively engage in their communities as well as enforce their rights. Our vision for the future is that children and youth will be the ones leading the development in their local communities, pushing for equality and access to health care, education and human rights.

Working together with CanopyLAB brings us closer to achieving our goals and vision for the future and we see it as an important step on the path towards reaching the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4; Quality Education for all by 2030.

Our Approach
We anchor our development work through small local organizations who know the contexts and the target groups best- together we are strongest! This also speaks to our collaboration with CanopyLAB – together we can make sure that vulnerable and marginalized groups have access to knowledge, skills and quality education through online learning. Working together with CanopyLAB brings us closer to achieving our goals and vision for the future and we see it as an important step on the path towards reaching the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4; Quality Education for all by 2030.

The course is a hands-on guide for you to create workshops on inclusion, diversity, gender equality and change-making towards the SDGs.

Results
For now, 100% for the Children has released its first interactive course on the LAB, which you can access for free via this link: A Guide to Inclusion Through Workshops and Co-creation. The course is a hands-on guide for you to create workshops on inclusion, diversity, gender equality and change-making towards the SDGs. The guide is inspired by a Danish exercise booklet for students studying social work in Denmark. The booklet is developed by students themselves creating a booklet from students to students. This guide is meant to open the booklet up to more people interested in social work, co-creation, inclusion and how to connect this to the SDGs.

We are currently starting up a project in Kenya about sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) at 34 schools and it is our plan to come out with a new interactive Train the Trainer course about SRHR and Life Skills soon – so stay tuned!
