Who is Learn Achieve Become
Learn Achieve Become is a UK registered charity working in close collaboration with local non-profit organisations in Madagascar, Kenya & Central America.
Goals & Objectives
Our goal is to ensure vulnerable and marginalized children and young people have the skills and opportunities for action that enable them to actively engage in their communities as well as enforce their rights. Our vision for the future is that children and youth will be the ones leading the development in their local communities, pushing for equality and access to health care, education and human rights.
Currently, Learn Achieve Become are working on 3 key projects across the world:
With an estimated 300,000 homeless youth across the country, our project will focus on various outreach & empowerment schemes, designed to provide short-term relief & long-term opportunities for street children, allowing them to make a positive change in their lives.
1 – Madagascar: Disabilities, Education & Support
Working with a local NGO, we aim to create the first S.E.N centre on the island of Nosy Be, in North West Madagascar. Alongside the centre, we aim to run various other schemes across Nosy Be, including: English as a foerign language, literacy, sustainability and computer skills classes. We also focus on creating free sports clubs and events, clean-up operations, business kick-starts and even small-scale construction.
2 – Kenya: Homeless not Hopeless
Working with 2 local Kenyan organisations, Learn Achieve Become aims to deliver a unique project, targeting some of Kenya’s most vulnerable people – The ‘street children’ population. With an estimated 300,000 homeless youth across the country, our project will focus on various outreach & empowerment schemes, designed to provide short-term relief & long-term opportunities for street children, allowing them to make a positive change in their lives.
3 – Central America: Actions & Words
Central American countries are among some of the most impoverished in all of Latin America. Despite the ever increasing tourism rates, numerous investments & an ever growing presence on the world stage, much of the local populations drastically lack basic literacy skills – In Nicaragua, adult literacy rate is 68%. Throughout this temporary project, Learn Achieve Become will work with a range of organisations across Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua & Costa Rica to help deliver a course on literacy skills.
To further assist the people of Central America, this project also aims to provide new opportunities for sports participation, particularly in action sports. The Pacific coast of Central America is home to some of the world’s best waves, attracting surfers and skateboarders from across the world. By creating new facilities and hosting events/classes, we aim to help more local people to discover the joys of action sports.
Canopy LAB’s platform is a great tool for Learn Achieve Become – We’re using it to create a number of courses which we shall deliver to our beneficiaries in Madagascar and to our partnered schools in the UK.
Our Approach
CanopyLAB is an extremely useful partner organisation for Learn Achieve Become – After initially making contact through social media, it was soon realised how we could mutually benefit each other. Canopy LAB’s platform is a great tool for Learn Achieve Become – We’re using it to create a number of courses which we shall deliver to our beneficiaries in Madagascar and to our partnered schools in the UK. Not only is Canopy LAB a highly advanced platform for making online educational courses, they also help us with networking & consultation when needed.
The focus will be on the issues that charities across the world face when working. The goal is to encourage charitable thinking amongst students, to create the future generation of philanthropists.
Results
Currently, Learn Achieve Become is using CanopyLAB’s platform to create a basic computer skills course, which shall be delivered on our upcoming Madagascar project later this year. We’re sure that it will attract a large amount of people from across Nosy Be, both male and female, old and young. We’re also using the platform to develop a short online path for our partnered UK schools as part of the ‘Connecting Classrooms’ program. The focus will be on the issues that charities across the world face when working. The goal is to encourage charitable thinking amongst students, to create the future generation of philanthropists.
At CanopyLAB we designed a simple and social platform for digital learning experiences.
